Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has highlighted his record in Clacton ahead of the constituency’s parliamentary by-election on 13th August, which he triggered by resigning as MP in response to an “all-out assault” by the political establishment.
“In terms of charities, I’ve helped St Helena Hospice to raise money and given over £1,000 in donations to them. I’ve helped the Veterans’ Breakfast Charity here in Clacton, not just by attending their events, but also by giving them some money as well. I’ve never talked about it in public before, but maybe it’s about time I did.”
He added: “I also helped Walton have a Remembrance Day parade, which I led.”
Farage also fought tax rises in the Budget on behalf of businesses on Clacton Pier. And after “the horrible fire that destroyed Codgers”, a furniture store, last year he has done “everything I can to help and promote that business”.
He has championed “Clacton as a place to come and visit”, celebrating its “fabulous sandy beaches” and famous pier.
Speaking directly to his constituents, Farage said: “If you write to me with a genuine problem, not only will I make sure that letter or email gets answered, but I will act on your behalf if you’ve got a genuine cause for concern.”
“I’ve done my best over the course of the last two years,” he said. “I’m asking for your backing on 13th August.”
