Nigel Farage has pledged that a Reform government would ban visas for anyone from Sudan, after the horrific attempted murder in Belfast on Monday.
A Sudanese man in his 30s has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a bladed article in a public place, and making threats to kill, after a man in his 40s was left with serious injuries to his face, eyes, neck and back on Kinnaird Avenue in north Belfast. While the mainstream media jumped to call this a “stabbing”, bystanders described the attack as being more like an attempted beheading.
Police have said the suspect is believed to have travelled from Sudan to Paris, then from Paris to Dublin, before taking a bus to Belfast in February 2023. He immediately claimed asylum and was later granted leave to remain in the UK.
This is the kind of case that exposes the terrifying reality of Britain’s broken borders. Reform UK is the only party offering serious solutions to this. As Reform UK leader Nigel Farage wrote on social media today:
“A Reform government will issue a ban on visas for anyone from Sudan. Immigration policies championed by the Tories and Labour have led to horrific consequences. Consequences which are unfolding every day before our eyes. A man was almost beheaded in Belfast. This was imposed upon the British people. Nobody voted for this.”
Reform UK’s Shadow Home Secretary Zia Yusuf echoed this, pointing out that he had already sounded the alarm on the current system: “Four months ago I announced that a Reform government would impose a TOTAL BAN on visas for anyone from Sudan. We also announced we would deport all illegal migrants, and abolish Indefinite Leave to Remain. Prime Minister Farage will reverse the invasion and ensure you no longer have to endure the horrors seen in Belfast [on Monday].”
The political choice is brutally clear. The Conservatives and Labour built and are maintaining this status quo. Only Reform will tear it down.
