Kemi Badenoch has finally said the quiet part out loud. Asked about the prospect of Reform UK’s Nigel Farage in No10, she claimed he would be “just as bad or an even worse prime minister than Andy Burnham”. In other words, the Conservative leader would rather see the same failed Labour machine continue than see Britain rescued by Reform UK.
As Reform UK shadow home secretary Zia Yusuf pointed out, this position makes perfect sense for Badenoch. “Her party presided over the invasion of Britain and Nigel will reverse it”, he said. “Her party opened our borders and Nigel will secure them. Her party bowed to foreign courts, Nigel will restore our sovereignty.”
This is the choice now - between the failed Westminster cartel and the only party serious about undoing its damage.
The Conservatives had 14 years to control immigration. Instead, numbers exploded. They had 14 years to restore law and order. Instead, criminals walked free while ordinary people watched police disappear from their streets. They had 14 years to take on the lawyers, quangos, activist judges and foreign courts blocking the will of the British people. Instead, they surrendered.
As Yusuf put it, Badenoch’s “party let criminals run free, Nigel will jail them. Her party let wokery conquer our institutions, Nigel will take them back. Her party raised the tax burden to the highest level since WW2, Nigel will reduce it.”
That is the real record Badenoch is defending. The Conservatives left Britain with the highest tax burden since 1948, public debt £2.7 trillion, and a country where taxpayers are forced to pay more and more for less and less.
That is why Badenoch’s attack on Farage is so revealing. She is angry because Reform UK exists to reverse the failures of her own party. And now, rather than admit the scale of that betrayal, Badenoch would apparently rather keep Labour in power than see Farage enter Downing Street and undo the damage.
That is also why she refuses to call for a general election. She knows the Conservatives are, as Yusuf described it, “headed for oblivion”. She knows that millions of Tory voters have already moved on and switched their vote to Reform UK. And she knows that, when the British people finally get their chance, they will choose the party that is ready to secure the borders, restore sovereignty, cut taxes, jail criminals and take Britain back.
