DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT

Small Boat Watch is published by Reform UK. This page explains how to delete your account and what happens to your data when you do.

Delete it from inside the app

This is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately.

  1. Open Small Boat Watch.
  2. Tap More in the bottom bar.
  3. Under Account, tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm twice. The second prompt is the point of no return.

Your account is deleted straight away and you are returned to the sign-in screen. There is no way to recover it — signing up again with the same email address creates a new, empty account.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, with the subject “Delete my Small Boat Watch account”. We will confirm the request and delete the account within 30 days.

We can only act on a request sent from the email address the account was registered to. If you no longer have access to that address, tell us in the message and we will ask you for another way to verify the request.

What is deleted

Everything held against your account:

  • Your email address.
  • Your postcode.
  • Your phone number, if you gave one.
  • Every device registered to the account, and the notification token used to send you the daily alert. Once these are gone, the daily notification stops.
  • Your notification preferences.
  • Your display name and any scores you set in the in-app game.
  • Any unused sign-in codes issued to your address.

Deletion is permanent. We do not keep a copy of the account in a recoverable form once the request has been processed.

What is kept, and for how long

  • Encrypted backups. Backups taken before your deletion may still contain your account for up to 90 days, after which they expire and are overwritten. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups.
  • Server logs. Technical logs recording that a request was made — the time and an IP address, not the contents of your account — are kept for 90 days for security and fraud prevention, then deleted.
  • Nothing else. The crossing figures shown in the app come from Home Office publications and contain no personal data, so nothing about you remains in them.
